WASHING, DRYING THE CAR & WHEELS
Always try to wash the car in the shade and not in direct sunlight, as the sun dries the car too fast and this can cause water streaks.
Start by wetting the car down with your pressure washer or hosepipe. Then apply TFR Gold (Traffic & Film Remover) to the lower parts of the car, under the wheel arches and the tyres using a Pressure Spray Bottle, never spray TFR directly onto a dry car. You can also wet down and spray TFR Gold to the door shuts and inside fuel flap at this stage if you wish. Now leave the TFR to do its stuff.
WHEELS
Next move on to the wheels. Depending on your preference, you can use a Non-Acid or an Acid based wheel cleaner. If you use acid based, you will need the following: an Acid Resistant Wheel Brush, an Acid Resistant Pressure Spray Bottle, Gloves, Goggles and a Face Mask, for non-acid you will need a Standard Pressure Bottle, Standard Wheel Brush, goggles and gloves.
Spray the wheel cleaner generously on all 4 wheels, then agitate with your wheel brush, making sure to loosen all the dirt, then rinse the wheels with the pressure washer or hosepipe, starting with the wheel you sprayed first. Then move the car forward half a wheel turn, so you can clean the parts you could not see.
Once the wheels are cleaned and rinsed, now the TFR is ready to be rinsed from the car, starting with the door shuts and then from the top of the car down, making sure you remove all the heavy dirt from the car, inside of the fuel flap and under the wheel arches.
SHAMPOO
Now you’re ready for the exterior shampoo. If you have a Foam Lance or Foam Pressure Spray Bottle, you can use Snow Foam or Cherry Active Shampoo to foam the car down, then agitate with a Wash Mitt, a Sponge or a Wash Brush, making sure not to miss any part of the car including the windows.
If you’re using a Bucket, it’s always good to have a Grit Guard to prevent scratching the car. Put a gulp of Cherry Active Shampoo into the bucket and fill with warm water, then wash the car with a Wash Mitt, a Sponge or a Wash Brush, making sure not to miss any part of the car. Finally rinse down starting at the top of the car. At this stage you can spray on Diamond Shine and rinse one more time. Then using a Water Blade, swipe off the excess water from the car and Chamois Leather or Microfiber Towel the car until it’s completely dry. Always use a Cotton Rag or old Microfiber Cloth to dry the door shuts and inside fuel flap
TAR REMOVAL
Spray Tar and Glue Remover to the lower parts of the car all round, let it do its work for serval minutes, then spray Tar and Glue Remover onto a Tar Sponge and agitate softly to remove the tar spots from the car’s paintwork and wipe dry with a Cotton Rag or old microfiber cloth.
INTERIOR VACUUM
Remove all objects and rubbish from the car, door pockets, Centre Console and the boot including the mats. Empty all ash trays and clean if necessary. Then using a Detailing Brush, loosen all the dirt in the vents, the clocks area and all the nukes and crannies. Then vacuum the car throughout using a Soft Detailing Brush as you go and a Pet Hair Removal Brush where needed. You can also vacuum the boot at this time.
INTERIOR SHAMPOO BY HAND
Mix Special-S in a Spray Bottle, by 10-1. Then spray the car’s interior a section at a time starting with the roof cloth, not forgetting behind the sun visors. Do not over spray, less is better. Then agitate the area with an Upholstery Brush or an Upholstery Sponge, then wipe off with a clean damp Microfiber Cloth, rinse the microfiber cloth in a fresh Bucket of warm water and repeat the same. This method can be used on the whole interior of the car including the Roof Cloth, Dashboard, Interior Trims, Seats, Carpets, Door Cards and Sills.
INTERIOR SHAMPOO BY MACHINE
Same as above using a Spray Extraction Machine on the seats, carpets and floor mats, only use low foam Carpet Clean Plus mixed between 10-1 and 20-1 depending on severity of interior grime. Use the hand Procedure above, for the Roof Cloth, Door Cards, Rear Parcel Shelf and Inner Sills.
INTERIOR DRESSING
Apply Pink Sheen or Matt Dash to all the interior plastics including the sills and door rubbers using an Applicator Pad, then buff off to your preferred sheen. You can also spray a Scented Silicone Spray into the vents and then wipe with a microfiber cloth.
INTERIOR GLASS CLEANING
If you’re using Glass Polish you should do this before you do the interior dressing as glass polish dust can get on the plastics. Apply a small amount of Glass Polish onto an Applicator Pad, and then clean all glass in a circular motion including the rear view and visor mirrors. Wipe off Glass Polish with a clean Microfiber Cloth and don’t forget to drop all windows about an inch so you can get the window tops. If you’re using Clear Glass or Glass Gleam liquid spray, just spray onto the glass and clean with a Glass Microfiber Cloth, a window at a time.
EXTERIOR POLISH
Now the exterior should be completely dry. Apply one of the following: Fast Cut Polish (For dull cars) or Fast Wax Polish, on the car’s paintwork using a damp Cellulose Wax Sponge and applying small pressure in a circular motion. Never apply polish in direct sunlight, as its difficult to remove. Then buff off to a high shine using a Microfiber Polish Cloth. You can also do the exterior glass and mirrors with this method except the front windscreen, were you should always use glass cleaner.
EXTERIOR TRIMS AND TYRES
Now dress the Black and Grey exterior trims with Trim & Bumper Gel using an applicator pad, try not to get the Gel on the paintwork as its difficult to remove. Now using Tyre Magic or Tyre Sheen, brush the solution evenly onto the tyre walls using a two inch Paint Brush or Tyre Dresser and let dry.
FINELY
Give the car another quick Vacuum, then spray Auto Fresh onto the seats and carpets. Put Disposable Seat Cover on the driver’s seat and Paper Floor Mats in the front foot wells. Leave the windows open about an inch to help the car dry and air out. Hang a Car Care Ireland Air Freshener from the rear view mirror
Then go through the check list to make sure you didn’t forget anything.
